Welcome to the Official Home Page of Gone Country.
About the programme.......
Gone Country is a weekly country music radio programme heard on community radio station Port Stephens FM each Wednesday afternoon between 12 noon and 3pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (GMT + 10hrs). It is presented by yours truly John Loulias (with a little help occasionally from Kelly) and features great music from Australian and International Country Music Artists (well, at least I think so - you be the judge).
I have been involved in Community Radio for well over 15 years now as a radio presenter and committee member and I still thoroughly enjoy the experience.
As part of the program, I have regular chats on air with our country music artists and try to present the widest range of country music.
Gone Country playlists are published on our Playlists page as soon as possible after the program airs and country music requests can be made using the playlists as a guide or your own preference of country music tracks. I try to satisfy such requests where I can.
Port Stephens FM? - never heard of it......
Well, that is really a shame. Port Stephens FM 100.9 is one of many Community Radio stations throughout Australia. It is situated in the Port Stephens Shire area of NSW's east coast in the Nelson Bay suburb of Salamander Bay (opposite the Salamander Bay Shopping Centre). The radio station is wholly staffed by volunteers and broadcasts 24hrs per day. The radio station can also be heard on the internet at www.psrmf.org.au (follow the links).
Nelson Bay (The Blue Water Wonderland) is situated in the Hunter Valley about 2-1/2 hours drive north of Sydney. Nelson Bay is a tourist area (although there are many happy permanent residents in the area) and is known for its Whale Watch and Dolphin Watch tours - good fishing too. It has some of the best beaches on Australia's East Coast and is not all that far from the famous Vineyard areas of the Hunter Valley and close to Newcastle Airport.
